Anselmo Bardini

Anselmo Bardini

Ciao! I'm Anselmo, 22 years old and originally from sunny Italy. Sport is a big part of my life—whether it's running, cycling, or climbing. Choosing Belgium was a deliberate decision for me: this specific course doesn't exist in Italy, and I really wanted to do something with product design. I see myself as someone who is always looking for movement and challenge, and I bring that mindset into the design of ANO as well. I believe products should not only be functional, but also radiate a sense of energy and dynamism.

Aurian Mathurin

Hey, I'm Aurian, 22 years old and I'm from Charleroi. Photography is my greatest passion. I see compositions, colors, and shapes everywhere. At ANO, I'm often the one working on visual presentation and storytelling. What attracted me to IPO was the combination of creativity and technology. I moved to Kortrijk because I couldn't find this program anywhere else in Belgium. For me, ANO is more than just a product – it's a story that people should feel when they see or use it. It should spark something.
Toon Cobbaut

Toon Cobbaut

I'm Toon, 21 years old and from Mollem, a quiet village in Flemish Brabant. Outside of designing, you’ll usually find me at home playing with my dogs. I draw a lot of inspiration from nature and enjoy practical solutions with a playful touch. Within ANO, I often focus on the practical side of the design and think a lot about how something truly works in everyday life. What I love about this project is how tangible it is—you create something that people can use, day after day.

I'm Jonas, 22 years old and from the beautiful town of Ypres, near the French border. Traveling is my way of gathering new ideas and meeting people. Experiencing different cultures and habits teaches you to see things differently—including products. At ANO, I'm involved in the conceptual thinking and always try to see the bigger picture. What is the impact? Why would someone buy this? I love creating something that’s genuinely useful for people with an active lifestyle like mine.

Who are we?

We are ANO, a young start-up born out of a school project, but by now much more than that. What started as an assignment within our study programme IndustrialProduct Design (IPO) at Howest Kortrijk, grew into an adventure full of testing, adjusting, dreaming and building. We are still in the middle of the process, because at this momentwe are working on the development of our product. Every day we gain newinsights, implement improvements and look for the best solutions.

We are four third-year students who together were given the challenge to analyse and further develop an existing product. The result? The ANO Hallway Bench:a functional, adventurous and cleverly designed piece of furniture for active people like us – and like you.

We put a lot of time and energy into it together. Not just because we have to, but because we have faith in the product and the story behind it. It is not a quickly cobbled-together school project, but a concept in which we strive for sustainability, simplicity and affordability. We are constantly looking for smart solutions: materials that last, shapes that are efficient, a look that stays fresh and timeless.

The place where ANO was created…

The Industrial Product Design programme at Howest teaches us more than design. We are trained to think creatively as well as technically, to design a product from A to Z with the end user in mind at. From sketch to prototype, from research to production. IPO is for those who like to work with their hands as well as their head, and that is exactly who we are. Howest, and especially the campus in Kortrijk, is our base of operations a hotbed of ideas, young creators and entrepreneurship.
